Welcome to the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India!

The need to understand society's behaviour is becoming critical as our world becomes more complex and our culture more fragmented. Social issues, values, standards, and behavioral norms are continually changing, being questioned, and evolving in new ways almost too complex to fathom.

Pick up any newspaper, read any news magazine, or just watch television for a few hours and you soon realize how crime, delinquency, and criminal justice problems and issues permeate Indian society. However, we don't just worry about the problems, we learn how to identify them, analyze them, and, most importantly, look for solutions.

Our students accept the challenge of studying and ultimately helping shape society's behavior and its effects on our lives. And they find their work as fascinating and enjoyable as it is essential. In addition, our subject is one that's easily integrated with many other fields. Because criminology is especially suited to a broad, Social science education, you'll have a wide variety of career choices available to you.

Our Department offers a Master in Science degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice Science, PG Diploma in Victimology and Victim Assistance as well as Research Programme leading to a Ph.D. degree. We have 5 full-time faculty members of which two are specifically recruited to teach PG Diploma in Victimology and Victim Assistance  and several part-time faculty members who are criminal justice functionaries, and a diverse post graduate student body of approximately 20 students.
