Beck Johnson and Forest Gouin in Fiji September 27 to October 5, 2003

My boyfriend Forest Gouin and I decided to spend our holiday in Fiji because we needed a mid-way point between Tasmania (where I am) and Washington State (where Forest is). We didn't want to do the resort holiday though, so we both packed light and kept our plans purposefully vague.
Our first day in Fiji, we explored the marketplaces of Suva, Fiji's capital city. That night, we took a plane to Ovalau, and stayed for six nights at the Levuka Homestay. We took day trips to Lovoni and Silano village on Ovalau, snorkeling around Caqelai island, drank kava with the locals, and trekked through the jungle. Friday morning we headed back to Viti Levu, and caught a boat to Toberua island - which was definitely a resort, but came so heavily recommended we couldn't resist. We spent the weekend there, playing reef golf in the morning, snorkeling in the afternoon, and drinking heavily in the bar at night.
