Notes
In western music, names of letters of the
alphabet are assigned to each pitch.
Only the first seven letters of the alphabet
are used:
A, B, C, D, E, F and G. These letters are repeated in each octave.

Staffs
Pitches are represented graphically on a set
of lines called a staff (it may also be called a stave).
There are five horizontal lines in the staff,
and notes can be placed on both the lines of the staff and the spaces
between the lines.
