  • Triplet rhythm — 3 eighth notes appear where there normally would only be 2 eighth notes. This may be indicated in the music by "3" with brackets (like the first group of notes shown). However, if the pattern is repetitive like in the example below, there may be no indication because the triplet rhythm is apparent from the context of the music.

  • Arpeggios — The notes in the chords are played one at a time instead of simultaneously.
