About Scandia
Scandia is part of a larger network of imaginary worlds known as ImagiNations, a concept created by Edward Mooney, Jr. This is the second ImagiNations world, the first being known as Vexillium. Since Scandia's initiation, several more worlds have been added to the ImagiNations universe.Scandia was established in 1999 by Edward Mooney, the creator of Scandia and its first PlanetMaster. In December of that same year, Thomas Robinson, a participant in Vexillium, was appointed Scandia's second PlanetMaster. In 2000, the position of Assistant PlanetMaster was created, with Scott Deederly being elected to that position. Scott and Thomas have since left Scandia. In January 2003 Jake Gibson took on duties of Scandia's Webmaster, and in March 2003 Josh Chabbert was selected as the new PlanetMaster.
There is no one single purpose to Scandia, and different people are involved in it for different reasons. Some are interested in the creation of countries, designing their political systems, their cultures, their histories, their languages, and their religions. Others are interested in the diplomacy and interaction between the various nations of Scandia. Others pursue a combination of both. Regardless of what particular element of geofiction (the creation and interaction of countries) appeals to you, there will very likely be a way to bring that thing to life on Scandia.
As mentioned above, both Scandia and ImagiNations were created by Edward Mooney, Jr, and, as such, many elements of Scandia, including the overall concept, belong to him. Other elements of Scandia belong either to the former PlanetMaster (Thomas Robinson), current PlanetMaster (Josh Chabbert), or to individual members of Scandia. When a player leaves Scandia he cannot expect his ideas to be ripped out - they will have become a part of the background of the world. While the boundaries of ownership become blurred in places, please remember that somebody worked quite hard to create everything you find in the world of Scandia.
