General:  Game Review of the year - Unreal Tournament 2004
Submitted by weiqiang - Posted on 6/3/2004 8:17:03 AM

In all, the gameplay in this one leaves nothing to complain about. It's one of those rare games that have something for everyone. Also, you don't need a high-end system for the game to run, a mid-range one will do just fine. Even at maximum settings (1024x768/32) on an Athlon 2500+ PC with GF4 Ti4600/128 card the game was perfectly playable for me. These things aren't terribly expensive anymore, and it's well worth the price to make this game run smooth enough where you'll have steady framerates for online and off.

UT 2004 was definitely worth the wait and it's probably the best $40 purchase you will make busy for a long time. If you liked Unreal Tournament, or Unreal Tournament 2003, this is a must-buy for you!

Recommended: Pentium IV or AMD Athlon 2.0 GHz, 512MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 4 or ATI Radeon Hardware T&L card with 128 MB VRAM, Sound: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, 6GB free HDD space, Broadband Internet connection Note: FYI, UT 2004 comes in 6 CDs (5 for game installation and 1 for extras), which amounts to around 5.6 GB of hard disk space without counting the extras. And no there's no option for minimum installation.

snd: 5/5 - decent music, sound effects are loud, booming, and crisp, built-in voice communication options, built in MP3 player for your own tracks

gfx: 5/5 - still very good looking, everything is extremely crisp and the textures are first class, excellent lighting and water effects, top-notch level design, incredible physics

playability: 5/5 - excellent evolutionary upgrade to the series, great addition of vehicles, 10 multiplayer modes (including Assault and Onslaught modes), 106 maps in total! (57 new maps), tight code - runs very stable, UnrealTV support, Voice-over IP support, amazing suite of editing tools

Rating: 95%

  General:  Nokia N-Gage reviews
Submitted by weiqiang - Posted on 10/2/2003 11:03:12 PM

Pros

MP3 player/recorder, FM radio
Built-in Bluetooth enables head-to-head lag-free multiplayer action
Symbian 60 operating system -  runs J2ME and of course, native symbian games
USB interface + Nokia's PC Link Software
some nice games (MotoGP, Pandemonium, Red Faction, Super Monkey Ball, Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider)
Cons

Bad design
Only 4096 colors (it can be problem in some games like Tetris)
Battery Life - only 3-6 hours for gaming
High price - $299.99
Requires SIM card for running
In order to use MP3 playback, you need a blank MMC card
Expensive games on MMC ~ $30-$35
Long loading times
Too short USB cabel (0.75m)

Overall, there's one problem: price  - $299.99. If you want gaming console with more than 700 games available, you can buy a GBA SP for $100. Honestly, for me is N-Gage too expensive/useless toy. I already own some shitty cell phone and for games I'd rather buy GBA SP, Zodiac, or wait for Sony PSP. But if you look at it as a hybrid device with gaming console, cell phone and MP3 player then it looks very cool, especially for those who love gadgets. I bet many teenagers will buy it anyway, especially if it stops them from getting bored when sat in a packed bus on the way to school.
