MakubeX's Story
Pronounced "Macbeth" (I wonder if that was done on purpose…), it’s the closest thing to a ‘real’ name that the poor kid has.  Barely days old, he was stuffed into a gym bag and ditched along the edges of Mugenjou’s Lower Town.  The name tag on the bag read "Makube", so he had a last name at least, but no first name.  Instead , given time, people began to stick an "X" --for unknown-- on the tail end of "Makube".  Thence MakubeX (and why I continually capitalize said "X").

I’m guessing not quite two years ago, MakubeX’s adored older-brother-figure Ginji left Mugenjou.  Shortly thereafter both Kadzuki and Shido left.  Kurusu Masaki, third of the Four Kings, vanished as well.  For all intents and purposes, there went the entire ruling body (such as it was, anyway) of Lower Town.  The only one left was MakubeX.  At that point in time not quite into his teens, yet still one of the formidable Four Kings, MakubeX stepped up and took what control there is to be had over Lower Town.  Juubei, Emishi, Sakura and Kyouji took places around him similar to the way the Four Kings supported Raitei.

Whereas Raitei kept power through his invincibility, MakubeX keeps it through his knowledge-- he’s got an information and spy network throughout all Lower Town.  Step one foot too far out of line, and somebody’s going to notice and tell another person, who tells another… until Juubei or Fudo is knocking on your door.

Unlike most of the other residents, MakubeX’s weird power isn’t physical, it’s mental.  Put simply, he’s an Einstein-level genius at computers.  From the old, broken computers people threw away as trash, he put together a supercomputer that could compete with the top systems world wide, if not beat them.  Heck, MakubeX himself can do calculations in his head that take supercomputers seconds to figure out, and his current favorite pastime is pondering chaos theory for crying out loud.

It goes without saying there doesn’t exist a system that he can’t hack or crack his way into.  He cobbled together a top-notch surveillance system out of other people’s junk and created the Wire Doll system, which lets him "hack" into the motor-systems of a person and control their movements.  Then there’s the oh-so-real Virtual System set up all over the place.

His manipulative skills don’t end with machinery, either.  MakubeX is a strategic mastermind when it comes to both battle and human relationships.  He knows just what to say to keep tempers even and hold the loyalty of his subordinates.  Most of it is good use of his bright, open, young-boy face, coupled with sly phrasing. He’s very good at looking guileless and giving praise that is for all appearances honest and heart-felt.  To top it off, he’s very, very confident in what he does.  That confidence and the respect he gives freely is what keeps Juubei and crew so very loyal to him.

SPOILERS (black on black, so just highlight to read)
Mathematical genius Radou Gen found and raised MakubeX, first opening the cyber-world up to the young boy.  To say he learned quickly would be the understatement of the week.

…and that’s precisely what led him into trouble.  MakubeX hacked the Babylon City system, and in there he came across some nasty news.  First was discovering that the entirety of Mugenjou is really two dimensions layered on top of each other-- one is the Reality everyone knows, and the other is a sub-dimension unique to the Mugenjou area.  Most people exist in Reality, but some are stuck -- forever -- in the Mugenjou Dimension.  They don’t really exist in Reality, and hence can never leave the Mugenjou area.

Despite his naturally cheerful disposition and a healthy sense of self-confidence, the foundations of MakubeX’s identity have always been shaky; not surprising, given that he doesn’t know his birth name, if he was even given one.  He’s never been outside the limits of Mugenjou either.  Learning that there’s a possibility that he’s one of the unlucky members of the Mugenjou Dimension was a serious blow.  He began to doubt his own existence.

Second, and perhaps worse, MakubeX hacked his way into a piece of the Archives.  A library of unholy precise predictions, the Archives have every action of every last person, animal and bug inside and connected to Mugenjou chronicled precisely.  Every action, including future ones.  Nothing happens in Mugenjou that isn’t written in the Archives.  Nothing happens in Mugenjou that isn’t controlled by the Archives, and the one who wrote the it-- Mugenjou‘s own "god".

MakubeX is at heart, a good, sweet kid.  It drove him nuts to know that there was no true freedom to any Mugenjou’s residents, but even with all his genius, there was only one way he could think of to get rid of that iron control by Babylon City--- blow the whole bloody thing sky high.  Thence the IL; a nuke.  Mugenjou was a computer infected by a terminal virus, and the only way to de-bug it was to hit the reset button.

Determined, but sickened at heart, MakubeX then set in motion the events that would later be labeled the "IL Dakkan".
